As we were getting ready for our first big trip Jay started to catch my cold. Monday before we left I took him to the Dr and there was really nothing to do other than keep a close watch on him. We did weigh him again and now he weighs 12lbs 13oz. Craziness!
Our flight left Tuesday morning at 7:20. I had to get up at 4:00am, Yuck! We had no problems making it through security and really lucked out with an almost empty plane. Jay and I had an entire row to ourselves. And Jay slept the entire way, as Grandma would say “he didn’t even make a peep”.
Since we left so early we had almost the entire day in Florida. Tuesday and Wednesday we spent hanging out at the condo. They had been having unusually cold weather so we planned out our week accordingly. On Wednesday we took a drive up A1A to see Trumps place, it’s such a beautiful drive. The boys played as many disk golf courses as possible. One apparently belonged to a church that was more like a cult. It was out in the middle of the woods and kinda scary. Dad started calling it the Blair Disk Project.
On Thursday we went on a boat tour of the Inter-Costal. It was still a little cold but we sat inside. The houses along the tour are unbelievable. Some of our favorites were the house with 6 kitchens and a glass elevator, the house that bought the $4 million lot next to it for a play area for their children, and the one that was originally on the market for $27 million but right now was on sale for only $22 million. This was Jay’s first boat ride and we all really enjoyed it. Once it warmed up a little we took him out on deck and he loved the wind. That night Grandma planned a birthday dinner for Mom at Duffy’s. She picked a good night because it was 2 for 1 drinks and surf and turf for $14.99.
On Friday Mikes Grandparents drove from the Gulf side of Florida to meet Jay. It was so great that they could make it. We sat around talking and taking photos all day. Jay got to be with 3 of his Great Grandparents at the same time. And Jay learned how to suck on his thumb. I’m sure this is not something to be excited about but we were excited. He is getting coordinated!
On Saturday and Sunday the weather was nicer so we hung out by the pool and the boys played disk golf. Sunday was the warmest day so I was gonna take Jay into the pool. I got him all dressed in a swim diaper and a bathing suit. Dad handed Jay off to me once I was in the pool. As soon as I put Jay half way in a old lady started saying “Hello, Hello who is the condo owner?” We said my Grandma and she said, “Well, You can’t put that baby in the pool, It’s the Law!” We told her ok sorry we didn’t know and that we were going to just take a picture and get right out. She started to freak out and yell at us to “Get that baby out of the pool”. Of course we got smart back and asked her if she was the condo police, which really pissed her off. She started telling Grandma that she would find out who she was and report her. Mom got the entire situation on tape, from start to finish its 2 minutes. Everyone got all protective and sarcastic. Dad started calling the old lady Lady Caca and Casey wanted us all to get in the pool and pee. Lady Caca turned into the joke of the trip. So Jay broke his first rule and got yelled at. To remember the occasion, the first of many I’m sure, I made a wanted poster for Jay.
Monday was our last full day in Florida and the warmest yet so we took Jay to the beach. It was really nice but the water was still a little cold. We let Jay put his feet in the sand and in the water. We took lots of pictures and enjoyed the sun.
Tuesday completed our week in Florida. It was an eventful week. We got to do everything we wanted to do and Mom and Dad got the Austin house! We now just had to pack up and make it home. Once again we lucked out and got an empty seat for Jay. He was awake for the first 1.5 hours and then slept all the way until we got back to Mom and Dad’s house. What a great baby!
